Oromo Cultural Dancers will perform and guests will enjoy traditional Oromo music. Feel free to join in! One of the fun parts of the festival is seeing multiple types of cultural dresses from across the 11 regions of Oromia, Ethiopia. Each region has its own unique cultural clothes and our families will dress similarly to show off their regional pride.
Anyone from the community is welcome to join the festival. Elders from the Oromo community will be presiding over the event. They will welcome the community and explain the importance of the Irreechaa Festival - both in the traditional Afaan Oromo language and in English.
There will be a blessing of the grasses and the flowers, and the community can join us as we proceed up the mountain and then down.
Wear comfortable shoes. Afterwards, please join us for a free community meal of traditional Oromo food!
