Somali-Swedish Culture Exchange

Join ASI and the Somali Museum of Minnesota for a vibrant and joyful day of cultural exchange! The campus will be filled with live music, dance, craft demonstrations, family-friendly activities, and food from the Somali and Swedish Minnesotan communities.

This free event includes opportunities to enjoy performances by the ASI Spelmanslag, Twin Cities Nyckelharpalag, Somali Museum Dance Troupe, and other local artists. Explore the Salad Hilowle: Inscriptions exhibition with tours offered in both English and Somali, led by staff from ASI and the Somali Museum of Minnesota.

Families can participate in outdoor games and hands-on Make & Take activities, while artisan demonstrations showcase traditional Somali weaving and Scandinavian wood carving. Plus, enjoy tastes of Swedish and Somali treats and a special event menu from FIKA Café.
